Hispanic Affairs Advisory Board urges unity following Orlando mass shooting

MIAMI – The Miami-Dade County Hispanic Affairs Advisory Board (HAAB) is urging unity in the wake of Saturday night's mass shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando and is encouraging donations for the survivors.

Saturday night was Latin Night at Pulse, and many young Hispanics were among the victims.

"The Miami-Dade County Hispanic Affairs Advisory Board condemns the horrific mass shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando. We are deeply saddened by the loss of life, and our hearts go out to all affected, especially the families and friends of the victims," said HAAB Chair Abbie B. Cuellar. "It is our responsibility to not allow this tragic incident to tear our communities, our cities and our people apart. We urge the community to reflect on this moment of sadness and band together as brothers and sisters and to help one another to stand tall and never forget as we move forward united."

HAAB is urging residents to donate blood at designated local blood banks that are collaborating with the City of Orlando and to make donations to Florida's Disaster Fund at www.volunteerflorida.org/emergency-management/#fdf
