MIAMI – Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jean Monestime host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Arthur Woodard Park, 1220 NW 99th St., on Aug. 9.

The two-acre lakefront park, which will feature native shade trees, benches, bicycle racks, a wooden face and walkway, is named after the late Dr. Arthur Woodard, a former principal of Miami-Douglas MacArthur High School North. Woodard personally maintained the once-private land, designating it as a space for area families to enjoy.

Commissioner Monestime sponsored the Miami-Dade resolution for the park naming.

“Arthur Woodard Park stands as a living legacy to beloved educator and civic leader Dr. Woodard, as well as a vibrant recreational space, where neighbors and their children can gather, for generations to come,” Commissioner Monestime said.
