MIAMI-DADE – Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jean Monestime teamed up with Joshua’s Heart Foundation on May 12 to feed District 2 senior citizens impacted by the COVID-19 state of emergency.

“Stay-put” packs consisting of a week’s supply of groceries were delivered to 500 pre-selected seniors in the Palm Court, Parkview Apartments, Westview Apartments, and Palm Towers communities. The packs included chicken, beans, rice, vegetables, toilet paper and face masks.

“Our seniors are our most vulnerable population when it comes to the COVID-19 pandemic, so these food packages will help them stay safely at home, and if they must go out for some reason, we’re providing them with face masks to protect themselves,” Commissioner Monestime said.
