Commissioner Sally Heyman and Representative Barbara Watson sponsor free spay/neuter surgeries for cats and free vaccinations for dogs
MIAMI – In continuing her commitment to control the overpopulation of cats in Miami-Dade County, Commissioner Sally Heyman is once again sponsoring a free spay/neuter event for animals in District 4. Commissioner Heyman and State Representative Barbara Watson, along with the Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department, will offer the FREE spay/neuter surgeries for cats, and Rabies and DHPP vaccinations for dogs. Dog licenses also will be available for purchase.
The event will take place on Sunday, February 12th at Highland Oaks Park, 20300 NE 24th Ave. Miami, 33180. Cats must be in carriers and dropped off at 7:30 a.m. (no later than 8:00 a.m.). Vaccinations for dogs will be offered from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Dogs must be on a leash and accompanied by a person.
“I’m happy to host my eighth FREE spay and neuter event in District 4 and reduce the overpopulation of cats in Miami-Dade County,” said Commissioner Heyman. “Also, to help dog owners with vaccinating their pets.”
The event is open to all residents of Miami-Dade County and to those working on the trap, neuter and release program to facilitate the reduction of community cats.
“This helps animal owners, and I’m happy to sponsor this event with Commissioner Heyman,” Representative Watson said.
Requirements (NO EXCEPTIONS): Service for Miami-Dade County residents ONLY. Maximum of four (4) appointments per residential address. Proof of current rabies vaccination must be provided for all cats presented, otherwise they will be vaccinated for free. All cats will be sterilized, dewormed and ear- tipped. Veterinarian may decline surgery of any pet for health reasons. Call 311 to schedule an appointment for cats.
