Commissioner Eileen Higgins launches the 2019 Mom and Pop Grant Program for District 5

Applications now available at www.miamidade.gov/district05 or District 5 offices


MIAMI-DADE – Miami-Dade County Commissioner Eileen Higgins is pleased to announce the launch of the 2019 Mom and Pop Grant Program for District 5. Small business owners located within District 5 are eligible to receive up to $5,000 for the purchase of inventory, professional services, or operational costs. The Mom and Pop Grant Program is tailored to fit the needs of each district, and in District 5 that means providing relief for small businesses including those affected by the West Flagler Street construction.

Last year, Commissioner Higgins awarded funding to 44 businesses, with about half of them located on Flagler. For the 2019 program, business across the district are eligible including those located on Flagler.

“Small businesses are the backbone of Miami-Dade’s economy, employing over 53 percent of its workforce,” said Commissioner Higgins. “I look forward to continuing to provide assistance to a diverse mix of salons, restaurants, retail stores, and small businesses that offer professional services. These grants truly help strengthen the unique mom and pop culture that exists throughout District 5.”

Applications are now available at www.miamidade.gov/district05 and at District 5 offices at Miami Beach City Hall, 1700 Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach, FL 33139 and 2100 Coral Way, Suite 400, Miami, FL 33145. The applications are due in person to District 5 offices between February 11 and 15, 2018 by 4:00 p.m.
