Commissioner Higgins to host six walk-up vaccination sites in District 5 throughout the month of May
MIAMI-DADE – Miami-Dade County Commissioner Eileen Higgins, District 5, together with the Florida Division of Emergency Management and the Florida Health Department, will host six, walk-up vaccination sites in District 5 during the month of May. Over 2,000 vaccines will be distributed to residents through mobile vaccination sites located in the heart of Little Havana. All the vaccination events are walk-up, ensuring access to residents who do not own a car or have access to transportation.
“With vaccines now available to all residents 18 and older, we are on the path to healing and rebuilding our community,” said Commissioner Higgins. “I am proud to work with our state partners in taking urgent action to make sure every resident who wants to get vaccinated has access to this life-saving shot – whether they have access to a car or not.”
This event continues Commissioner Higgins’ effort to reach and provide relief to the most vulnerable and hard-to-reach populations during the COVID-19 pandemic. Previous activations included walk-up food distributions and COVID-19 testing sites in District 5 neighborhoods.
