Commissioner Eileen Higgins Honored with Distinguished Public Service Career Award by Builders Association of South Florida

MIAMI-DADE – Miami-Dade County Commissioner Eileen Higgins was honored with the prestigious Distinguished Public Service Career Award by the Builders Association of South Florida (BASF) at their Installation and Awards Reception on Friday, May 9, 2025, at the citizenM Hotel in Miami. The award, presented by BASF President Nelson Stabile, Principal at Integra Investments, honors Commissioner Higgins for her exceptional leadership in public service and her significant contributions to the region’s growth, infrastructure, and development.
BASF’s Board of Directors selected Commissioner Higgins for her strategic leadership in District 5, where she has consistently championed initiatives that foster long-term growth and sustainability in Miami-Dade County. With a background in engineering and an MBA from Cornell University, Commissioner Higgins brings a unique blend of technical expertise and business acumen to her role. Her work in advancing public transportation infrastructure, building affordable and workforce housing to address the crisis, and supporting neighborhood-friendly development projects has been transformative for the region. By prioritizing smart, equitable growth and collaborating with diverse stakeholders, she has helped shape policies that are not only responsive to the needs of today but also forward-thinking, ensuring a thriving future for all residents of Miami-Dade.
