Commissioner Sosa helps bring a world class facility to the community
(MIAMI, FL) - On Friday, June 16, 2017, Commissioner Rebeca Sosa will attend a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the Sandra DeLucca Developmental Center in the City of Miami. “The Sandra DeLucca Developmental Center is a wonderful place that does a tremendous job helping our community,” said Commissioner Rebeca Sosa. “I feel blessed to have had the opportunity of helping the City of Miami secure $1.3 million in GOB funding to expand and renovate the facility so that our seniors and those with developmental disabilities can be better served.”
In 2011, County Commissioners unanimously approved a resolution sponsored by Commissioner Rebeca Sosa, allocating $1.3 million from the Building Better Communities General Obligation Bond Program to the City of Miami for the construction project. Thanks to these funds, the center now boasts nearly 10,000 sq. ft. of new and renovated space that includes a computer lab, arts and crafts studio and individualized instructional classrooms. Moreover, the center’s expansion will have the ability to add programming for seniors and further develop its already stellar disability services.
