Commissioner Cabrera announces passage of resolution to enhance consumer protection in PACE programs
MIAMI-DADE – Today, the Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved a resolution sponsored by Commissioner Kevin Marino Cabrera requiring Property Assessment Clean Energy (PACE) program disclosures. This resolution seeks to ensure that property owners have access to crucial information before participating in PACE programs.
“As your County Commissioner, my top priority is to defend the residents of Miami-Dade from any form of exploitation. It's crucial that property owners have all the facts they need to make informed choices about home improvements that can have long-term consequences to their finances, which is why I've filed legislation to make sure we protect folks,” said Commissioner Cabrera.
PACE programs offer property owners financing options for energy-efficient improvements and retrofits, with repayments made through annual assessments on property tax bills. While these programs have potential benefits, there have been concerns about consumer protection and the behavior of contractors in the industry.
