Commissioner Cabrera Enhances Protections For Property Owners and Partners with Latin Builder Association and YGrene to Aid Low-Income Seniors in Miami-Dade County

(Miami-Dade, FL) - Today, the Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved a resolution sponsored by Commissioner Kevin Marino Cabrera, requiring Property Assessment Clean Energy (PACE) entities to report any interruptions in service, terminations, cancellations, or suspension of agreements and communicate effectively with affected residents. It also prohibits misrepresentations and false statements while requiring PACE entities to confirm sufficient financing and valid email addresses for participants.

"As your County Commissioner, I am committed to safeguarding the well-being of Miami-Dade County residents. Our community deserves peace of mind when investing in energy-efficient improvements for their homes. This resolution helps keep PACE honest and serves as a crucial step in our ongoing efforts to protect our community," stated Commissioner Cabrera.

In addition to these important measures, we are excited to announce a partnership with the Latin Builders Association (LBA) and Ygrene Energy Fund to support our community further. The program, scheduled for this summer, is funded with $600,000.00 and will offer financial and technical assistance to eligible seniors over the next three years. This support will help them improve the energy efficiency of their homes. These upgrades will not only reduce energy bills but also contribute to the county's broader environmental goals.
