Progress on gender equality remains stagnant
2019 Status of Women in Miami-Dade County report to be released

MIAMI-DADE – The third annual report on the status of women in Miami-Dade County will be released at a press conference on Tuesday, March 19, at 2:00 p.m. in the Stephen P. Clark Government Center, 2nd floor press room. The report findings will shed light on areas in which women and girls are succeeding or struggling, including in economic opportunity, education, and health.

The report, authored by the FIU Metropolitan Center’s Dr. Maria Ilcheva, is a result of legislation sponsored by Commissioner Daniella Levine Cava. In 2015, the Board of County Commissioners adopted the UN Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). The ordinance requires a report to be produced each year providing a benchmark for measuring gender equity in the county.
