MIAMI-DADE – On Friday, April 29, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Kionne L. McGhee was inducted as the new 482nd Fighter Wing’s Honorary Commander during the change of command ceremony at the Homestead Air Reserve Base.
“I’m truly humbled to be inducted to serve our courageous men and women of the 482nd Fighter Wing of the Homestead Air Reserve Base as their Honorary Commander. I have the highest admiration for their bravery and dedication to serve our country, and I am committed to supporting them in all my capacity. It is a great honor,” said Commissioner McGhee.
The 482nd Fighter Wing, Air Force Reserve Command, is a fully combat-ready unit capable of providing multi-purpose fighter aircraft, along with mission ready pilots and support personnel. The wing has more than 2,500 members, including more than 1,700 traditional reservists, of which more than 240 are full-time reservists, in addition to more than 250 full-time civilians.
