Commissioner McGhee releases statement on Uvalde massacre

MIAMI-DADE – Commissioner Kionne L. McGhee sends his heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families and friends after the horrendous massacre at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, on Tuesday, May 24. Nineteen elementary students and two adults were killed by the shooter.

“Words cannot express what these families are going through at this time. As a parent, I am heartbroken. We must do more to support our children and educators. We should not have to worry about whether we will see our kids, spouses, friends, or loved ones again when we send them off to school. Our children should be able to obtain their education in a safe environment. Our teachers should have the tools and resources available to educate our children. They shouldn’t have to also worry about how they’re going to save them from an active shooter. We must do better,” said Commissioner McGhee.
