Commissioner Souto to cut ribbon for new traffic signal

MIAMI – Miami-Dade County Commissioner Javier Souto will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new traffic signal at the intersection of Southwest 97th Avenue and 28th Street on Friday, Oct. 11 at 11 a.m..

The new traffic signal came about after Commissioner Souto requested its installation due to the large amount of traffic and accidents at the intersection. As a result, the County’s Public Works Department conducted a traffic study that determined a traffic signal was warranted. In addition to the two new traffic signal arms at the intersection, the project features new pedestrian walking lights and a crosswalk.

The new traffic signal will improve safety for residents of the area, which includes two important schools – Rockway Elementary and Rockway Middle.
