Vice Chairman Rodriguez to host Stand Down Resource Fair for veterans


MIAMI-DADE – Vice Chairman Anthony Rodriguez will be hosting Stand Down, a resource fair that is geared towards veterans, on Thursday, Nov. 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Miami-Dade County Fair & Expo, 10901 SW 24th St., Miami, FL 33165. This event is open to the public.

Over 50 state and County departments, nonprofit organizations, and relevant vendors are attending the event, including Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD), Miami-Dade County Clerk of Court and Comptroller, Miami Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces (PROS), Legal Services of Greater Miami, and the University of Miami, just to name a few. Resources and information will be provided to veterans on their benefits, physical and mental health concerns, transportation initiatives, and more. The event will include music and informative presentations, plus meals will be provided. Grumen Barbershop will be giving free haircuts to veterans.

There will be free bus transportation provided by Miami-Dade County’s Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) to the event available at 9 a.m. from Bruce W. Carter VA Medical Center, 1201 NW 16th St., Miami, FL 33125, on NW 16th St., in front of the entrance, and Homestead VA Clinic, 950 N Krome Ave., Miami, FL 33030, in the clinic parking lot. Buses will begin to load for their return at 1:45 p.m. from Edwards Hall (Gate 2).
