Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners to Hold May 6 Meeting to Discuss the Vacancy in District 6

MIAMI-DADE – The Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners will proceed with a discussion on filling the vacancy in Commission District 6 during its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.

The vacancy follows the resignation of Commissioner Kevin Marino Cabrera after his confirmation as the United States Ambassador to the Republic of Panama. In accordance with the County Code and Procedures, the Commission will move forward with a discussion on an appointment to fill the vacancy.

“District 6 deserves representation in the most expeditious manner possible,” said Anthony Rodriguez, Chairman. “There are too many critical conversations, decisions, and votes that need to be made in the coming weeks and months for the Commission to create a process that will leave our body – and the people of District 6 – without a voice and advocate.”

Therefore, in an effort to provide District 6 with immediate representation, Chairman Rodriguez is requesting the Commission Auditor to begin the process by which residents of District 6 can apply for consideration to fill the vacancy during the Commission’s May 6th meeting.
