Domino’s “Paving for Pizza” pothole repair grant project in District 11 has been completed!
MIAMI – Commissioner Joe A. Martinez, who represents District 11, initiated the pothole repair process last year after seeing a commercial about Domino’s “Paving for Pizza” program asking customers to nominate their community for a pothole repair grant from the company to “smooth the ride” for delivery drivers and carryout customers and save their pizza from getting knocked around by bumps on the road. Commissioner Martinez contacted Domino’s to discuss District 11’s needs and led an effort by local residents to nominate District 11. Domino’s ultimately selected District 11, the only grant recipient in the state of Florida.
Through the Domino’s “Paving for Pizza” grant, a total of 84 potholes located within District 11 have been repaired. This grant, which was created by Domino’s Pizza, awarded $5,000 to repair the most severe potholes in District 11. The first pothole repair took place on May 24, 2019 at SW 137th Court and 24th Street. Subsequently, road crews were able to continue the rest of the pothole repairs that were identified in District 11.
“I am pleased this grant was able to give us the opportunity to repair a large number of potholes in our District, which will benefit our taxpayers and especially my constituents who drive on our roads,” Commissioner Martinez said.
