Commissioner Diaz, Miami-Dade Police and South Florida PBA to hold blood drive


MIAMI-DADE – In response to the blood shortage caused by the COVID-19 crisis, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz will team up with the Miami-Dade Police Department and the South Florida Police Benevolent Association for a blood drive hosted by OneBlood on Friday, Aug. 21, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the South Florida PBA Headquarters, 10680 NW 25th Street, Doral, FL 33172.

Commissioner Diaz will be donating blood at 10 a.m.

Face masks must be worn, or one will be provided. Appointments to donate are encouraged and can be scheduled at www.oneblood.org by clicking Donate Now and using the Sponsor/Name Code 60809. Walk-ups are also welcome. Do not donate if you are not feeling well or have a fever.

OneBlood is testing all blood donations for the COVID-19 antibody, which will indicate if the donor's immune system has produced antibodies to the virus, regardless of whether they ever showed symptoms.
