Commissioner Diaz, Mayor Yioset De La Cruz and Manny Diaz Jr. to host blood drive in Hialeah Gardensa

MIAMI-DADE – In response to the blood shortage caused by the COVID-19 crisis, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz will team up with Hialeah Gardens Mayor Yioset De La Cruz and State Senator Manny Diaz Jr. for a blood drive on Tuesday, Aug. 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Hialeah Gardens City Hall, 10001 NW 87th Ave., Hialeah Gardens, FL 33016.
The blood drive is sponsored by Innovative Transfusion Medicine. All blood donors will receive a mini-physical, cholesterol test, a COVID-19 antibody test, snack, and a raffle entry into the Innovative Transfusion Medicine Apple product giveaway. Convalescent plasma donors must have proper documentation before donating, including a positive and negative test from the lab, and be at least 14 days symptom-free or have a current antibody test. Female donors must have a negative test for HLA.
Masks are required to be worn by all blood donors. You can donate blood only if you are healthy, 17 or older, and at least 115 pounds. Donors must show Photo ID. For blood drive information, branch center hours and to make an appointment, contact Ralph Aleman at (786) 406-2734 or [email protected].
