Commissioner Bermudez sponsoring the inaugural From Waste to Race 5K Run/Walk
MIAMI-DADE – Commissioner Juan Carlos “JC” Bermudez is sponsoring the first ever From Waste to Race 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, March 29, at 7:30 a.m. at Miami Dade County Landfill, 8785 NW 58th St., Miami, FL 33155.
What was once an open landfill, towering 70 feet high and spanning 540 acres, is now on the path to becoming a runner’s paradise. Open in 1952 and capped in 1995, this land was a dumping ground for municipal and industrial waste. Today, it stands as a testament to environmental progress and renewal. Don’t just run a race—help create a legacy. Lace up for the first-ever From Waste to Race 5K! This inaugural race is more than just a run—it’s a celebration of transformation, turning a forgotten greenspace into a future running destination. This event offers participants a chance to conquer unique terrains rarely found in Florida while embracing the spirit of environmental stewardship. This isn't just a run; it's a step toward a greener tomorrow. Registration includes a $35 fee, which will increase after Friday, March 14 at 11:59 p.m. Register now by clicking here!
