Commissioner Diaz applauds opening of COVID-19 testing site at Youth Fairgrounds

MIAMI – Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz is applauding the state’s decision to open a new drive-through testing site at the Youth Fairgrounds at Tamiami Park in a partnership with Florida International University and the Florida Department of Health.

The County began taking appointments on April 7, and the center is opening on April 8. Testing will be by appointment only for adults only with symptoms of COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus. Residents can call 305-499-8767 to schedule a test.

“I applaud Commissioner Joe Martinez for his efforts to urge the state to bring this testing site to the Youth Fairgrounds,” Commissioner Diaz said. “This testing site will serve residents from several West Dade districts including mine.”
