MIAMI-DADE – Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz helped distribute food to more than 2,000 families this week at two Farm Share drive-through food distributions that took place on April 20 in Sweetwater and April 22 in Hialeah Gardens.

In Sweetwater, Commissioner Diaz teamed up with Sweetwater Mayor Orlando Lopez and State Rep. Ana Maria Rodriguez at Vann Academy to feed 670 families who pulled up in their cars to collect nutritious goods. In Hialeah Gardens, he was joined by Hialeah Gardens Mayor Yioset De La Cruz at Hialeah Gardens High School as 1,300 cars lined up for free food.

“We’re trying to make sure families don’t go hungry at a time when so many people have lost income as a result of the coronavirus state of emergency,” said Commissioner Diaz, “These are challenging days, but food distributions like these can at least help alleviate the strain on our residents.”
