MIAMI-DADE – On May 8, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz joined District 12 businesses to serve lunch to local first responders as a show of appreciation for their dedication in serving on the front lines during the coronavirus state of emergency.

About 250 meals were served to Miami-Dade police and firefighters, as well as police from the City of Doral and the City of Coral Gables. The event took place at the Westend Shopping Center in Doral.

Event sponsors and supporters included Sabor Havana Cigars, Villiger Cigars USA, and Prologis. Divieto Italian Restaurant and Catering the Event by Susan Bleemer provided the lunches. Dr. Schulze’s American Botanical Pharmacy supplied organic hand sanitizer. iHeartRadio’s Mobile Mike and TU 94.9FM joined in with music and on-air interviews.

“We can never thank our first responders enough for all they do, but at times like these it’s good to do something extra to show them how much we really love and appreciate them,” Commissioner Diaz said. “I also would like to thank District 12 businesses for their commitment to give back to our community.”
