MIAMI-DADE – Miami-Dade County Commission Chairman Jose “Pepe” Diaz, joined by District 9 Commissioner Kionne L. McGhee and Miami-Dade Parks Director Maria Nardi, participated in the Wounded Warrior Project’s Soldier Ride® Miami 2021 on Jan. 8.
Chairman Diaz helped serve 20 wounded veterans lunch at the Military Museum before they enjoyed a day of fun at Zoo Miami.
“It was great meeting our wounded heroes and giving them a day to remember,” Chairman Diaz said.
The Wounded Warrior Project is a nonprofit charity and veterans service organization that offers a variety of programs, services and events for wounded veterans of the military actions following September 11, 2001, including the annual Soldier Ride® adaptive cycling event for injured veterans, many of whom rely on prosthetic limbs. Due to COVID-19, this year’s ride was converted into a Skills Development Camp in which wounded veterans learned to improve their cycling skills.
