Chairman Diaz’s statement on COVID-19 vaccine distribution
MIAMI-DADE – “As I stated very clearly during this morning’s Sunshine meeting regarding COVID-19 vaccine distribution, I believe that we need to leave the distribution of the vaccine to our medical professionals in the Jackson Health System. While I appreciate Jackson Health’s offer to allocate 100 vaccine slots to each commissioner’s office to distribute among their district residents, I am respectfully declining and returning that allocation to Jackson Health. I believe our county’s residents will be best served by a coordinated and centrally administered approach that addresses our most vulnerable populations first, and that effort should be directed by Jackson Health in order to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness, and most importantly, the best health results for all our residents,” said Miami-Dade County Commission Chairman Jose “Pepe” Diaz.
