Veteran County Communicator appointed to FIU’s School of Communication and Journalism Dean’s Advisory Board

MIAMI-DADE – Veteran Miami-Dade County Communicator Griselle Marino has been appointed to the Dean’s Advisory Board of Florida International University’s School of Communication and Journalism. She is an alumna and serves as the Communications and Media Director of the Office of Community Advocacy, under the Board of County Commissioners, led by Chairman Jose “Pepe” Diaz.

“Throughout her career, Marino has exemplified a strong commitment as a communicator and a dedicated public servant,” said Chairman Diaz.

During National Volunteer Week 2021, Marino was recognized by the American Cancer Society of South Florida for her leadership and commitment to the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign, where she has represented the County in various roles, and most recently as Publicity Chair and Ambassador.

“Griselle consistently demonstrates excellence in performing her duties, and I congratulate her,” said Office of Community Advocacy Executive Director Laura Morilla.

Marino was also one of the 12 inspiring women honorees recipient of the “In the Company of Women” 2020 awards, Marino, whose work as a journalist earned her two Emmy Awards and five Emmy nominations before she joined Miami-Dade County in 2004 to serve in various communications positions, was honored in the “Communications and Literature” category.

In November 2020, American Women’s Magazine interviewed Marino, highlighting her storied career.

“I am very humbled by all of these recognitions,” said Marino. “It is another testament of the American Dream, coming to this country not knowing English at age 10, with very poor parents, studying and working hard, and now being able to help the minority groups my office represents is extremely fulfilling.”

The Office of Community Advocacy, under the Board of County Commissioners, oversees ten advisory boards and the Miami-Dade County Goodwill Ambassadors Program. The Office is charged with making Miami-Dade County "One Community" that embraces our diverse and unique population.
