Commissioner Esteban Bovo, Jr. co-sponsors resolution to expand solar footprint in Miami-Dade County

MIAMI-DADE – On February 13, 2019, the Tourism and Ports Committee approved a resolution to approve a nonexclusive license agreement between Miami-Dade County and Florida Power & Light (FPL) for the installation, operation and maintenance of solar energy equipment at Miami International Airport.

“As resiliency is a top priority for Miami-Dade County, partnering with Florida Power & Light (FPL) helps bring clean, sustainable, and renewable energy to a vital economic engine in South Florida – Miami International Airport,” Commissioner Bovo said. “I hope we can continue to identify properties and bodies of water throughout our county to further expand this solar technology. This agreement moves us toward the path of clean energy while making our County more resilient than ever before.”
