County Commission approves Commissioner Esteban L. Bovo Jr.’s resolution to add question on the 2020 ballot

MIAMI-DADE – On March 5, 2019, the County Commission approved Commissioner Esteban L. Bovo Jr.’s resolution calling for a countywide special election in Miami-Dade to be held in conjunction with the November 3, 2020 general election to make future elections for the County Constitutional Offices of Sheriff, Property Appraiser, Tax Collector, and Supervisor of Elections to be elected on a non-partisan basis starting effectively in 2024.

“As the prime-sponsor of this resolution, I’m proud that the County Commission joined me in enhancing our democratic process by empowering our constituents to choose who speaks and reflects to our County’s values,” Commissioner Bovo said. “The positions of Sheriff, Property Appraiser, Tax Collector, and Supervisor of Elections are positions that our residents should have the right to select, endorse, and vote on the basis of merit, regardless of party affiliation.”
