MIAMI-DADE – The Miami-Dade County Commission on March 5, 2019, approved a Nonexclusive License Agreement between Miami-Dade County and Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) for the installation, operation, and maintenance of solar panels on Glide Angle Lake at Miami International Airport for 15 years.

The approval of the Nonexclusive License Agreement benefits both the County and FPL as it gives the County the opportunity to facilitate the use of solar energy to a local business and it enables FPL to become an even more viable energy provider.

“Promoting the use of solar energy as an alternative to electricity is a step forward to advancing resiliency efforts across Miami-Dade County,” said Commissioner Esteban L. Bovo, Jr., who is a Co-Prime Sponsor of the resolution. “I thank the County Commission for approving this important agreement that will not only expand our solar footprint, but also move us toward an environmentally sustainable future.”
