Commissioner Esteban L. Bovo Jr. honors the victims of the FIU bridge collapse

MIAMI-DADE – On March 15, 2019, Commissioner Esteban L. Bovo Jr. joined the Florida International University (FIU) community, state and local officials, and local law enforcement to hold a moment of silence to honor the victims of the Southwest 8th Street pedestrian bridge collapse. At 1:47 p.m., bells rang six times for each of the lives lost: Alberto Arias, Navarro Brown, Brandon Brownfield, Alexa Duran, Oswald Gonzalez, and Rolando Fraga Hernandez.

“Every Panther mourned this afternoon on the one-year anniversary of the collapse of the Southwest 8th Street pedestrian bridge. Today, the university community came together to hold a moment of silence to mourn, remember, and honor the victims, their families, and loved ones,” Commissioner Bovo said. “As an FIU alumnus, I pray for the six lives lost one year ago today.”
