The Miami-Dade County 2020 Census Task Force holds its second meeting
MIAMI – On May 13, 2019, the Miami-Dade County 2020 Census Task Force held its second meeting discussing the functions and responsibilities of the Task Force, conducting a comprehensive assessment of individuals likely to be undercounted in Miami-Dade County. Chairman Esteban L. Bovo provided an overview of topics to be discussed at future meetings and strategy so Task Force members and members of the public are aware of what will be addressed to ensure maximum participation at meetings. Chairman Bovo also reiterated his vision of the Task Force providing the report in September with the road map of what will be the “Complete Count Committee and Subcommittees” that will then continue with outreach that this Task Force envisions moving forward.
“As a Task Force, we need to focus on setting clear, achievable goals and objectives in order to be successful as we begin to implement, identify areas of the community that need extra efforts reaching a hard to count population, use our community-based organizations that have direct contact with hard to reach populations, and build awareness of the importance of being counted by alleviating fears,” Chairman Bovo said, “That’s why I am confident that with all the expertise in this room, this Task Force will be successful in developing a plan to achieve a full and accurate count of Miami-Dade County.”
