Commissioner Esteban L. Bovo, Jr. commemorates The Longest Day

MIAMI–DADE – On June 18, 2019, Commissioner Esteban Bovo commemorated the Longest Day, a day when thousands of participants come together to raise funds and awareness for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association; and held a Citizen’s Presentation for Jessica Spencer, a Miami Lakes resident whose grandmother, Ileana "Nana" Merino, passed away due to Alzheimer’s complications.

“As the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support and research, the Alzheimer's Association’s mission to ending Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research, enhanced care and support are crucial to helping families like the Merino’s who lost their grandmother in 2016,” Commissioner Bovo said. “I invite all who are committed to ending Alzheimer’s to join, honor, and celebrate the life, legacy, and memory of Ileana ‘Nana’ Merino for their piano practice-a-thon fundraising event that will be held on Saturday, May 4th, 2019 in Miami Lakes.”
