Commissioner Esteban “Steve” Bovo’s statement on Miami-Dade Police Department’s new Director, Freddy Ramirez
MIAMI-DADE – On January 8, 2020, Mayor Carlos Gimenez announced that Deputy Director Freddy Ramirez is Miami-Dade County’s new police director. Director Ramirez is the successor of outgoing Miami-Dade Police Director Juan Perez.
“I would like to congratulate Director Juan Perez for an outstanding 30-year career in law enforcement,” Commissioner Bovo said. “While I was Chairman of the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners, I had the privilege to work with Director Perez to address gun violence issues within our community. It’s been my honor and pleasure to serve and work with him to keep Miami-Dade County safe. I also extend my congratulations to Director Freddy Ramirez. I cannot think of a more deserving and well-suited leader to head one of the best police departments in the nation. I look forward to working with Director Ramirez as the Miami-Dade Police Department continues to promote a safe and secure environment throughout the county.”
