Commissioner Esteban L. Bovo Jr. recognizes leading Cuban dissident, Rosa María Payá, for receiving the UN Watch’s Human Rights Award


MIAMI-DADE – Miami-Dade County Commissioner Esteban L. Bovo Jr. will have a special presentation recognizing Rosa María Payá for receiving the UN Watch’s 2019 Morris Abram Human Rights Award on Tuesday, June 18 at 8:30 a.m. in the County Commission Chamber, Stephen P. Clark Center, 111 NW First Street, Miami, FL 33128. 

Rosa María Payá is one of Cuba’s leading pro-democracy activists and the daughter of the late dissident Oswaldo Payá. As the leader of Cuba Decide, a non-partisan group calling for free and democratic elections in Cuba, Ms. Payá advocates for Cuban democracy both through local efforts in Cuba and international initiatives.
