Commissioner Esteban L. Bovo Jr. proclaims October 9 as Félix Ismael Rodríguez Mendigutia Day in Miami-Dade County

MIAMI-DADE – On Friday, November 22, 2019, Commissioner Esteban L. Bovo Jr. will be honoring Félix Ismael Rodríguez Mendigutia at the Brigade 2506 Bay of Pigs Museum in Hialeah Gardens.

A former Central Intelligence Agency Paramilitary Operations Officer in the famed Special Activities Division, Félix is known for his involvement in the Bay of Pigs Invasion and capturing communist Ernesto “Che” Guevara, who ultimately was killed by the Bolivian army on October 9, 1967.

“History will not absolve the callous murderer, as we must ensure his legacy of brutality is never forgotten. We must honor Félix Rodríguez, who brought Che to justice, by making October 9th “Félix Rodríguez Day" in Miami-Dade County,” Commissioner Bovo said.
