Elimination
of transition provisions The village charter provides for transition provisions solely
intended for the purpose of effecting the incorporation of
the Village and the transition to the new municipal government.
The Charter Revision Commission has recommended that the
Charter be amended to eliminate expired transition provisions

The
Village Charter currently limits the length of service
of the mayor, vice-mayor, and council persons to no more
than two consecutive terms. The Charter Revision Commission
has recommended that the Charter be amended to limit the
length of service of the mayor and council persons to three
consecutive terms.

Compensations
of Village Council. [Section 2.6]
The
Charter Revision Commission has recommended that the Charter
be amended to allow for an increase in compensation of
the village council to $1,000 per month and the mayor to
$2,000 per month, which compensation shall solely be increased
or decreased via a future amendment to the charter.

Elections.
[Section 5.1(C)]
The
Charter currently requires certain specific election and
run-off dates that coincide with state primary and second
state primary election dates. The state no longer has a
second primary election, thus necessitating a change in
the dates. The Charter Revision Commission has recommended
striking the dates listed and replacing the village’s
election date to the first Tuesday after the first Monday
in November and the run-off election date to the third
Tuesday in November.

Lobbyists.
[Section 7.6(A)]
The
Charter currently precludes any person or firm that provided
direct or indirect campaign contribution to a successfully
elected official from lobbying any elected official, employee
or appointed board or committee member for a period of
four years thereafter. The Charter Revision Commission
has recommended amending provision to reflect a one year
prohibition on lobbying, rather than the four year prohibition.

Corporate
Existence. [Section 1.1]
The
Charter currently reflects the date of incorporation to
be September 11, 2002. The Miami-Dade County election took
place on September 10, 2002. The Charter Revision Commission
has recommended changing the recognized date of incorporation
to September 10, 2002.

Village
Clerk. [Section 3.6]
The
Charter currently reflects the village clerk report to
the village manager and as being appointed by the village
manager subject to the approval of the Village Council.
The Charter Revision Commission has recommended changing
the position of the village clerk to an appointed position
by the village council, which position is filled and removed
at the discretion of the village council, and requiring
the clerk to report to the council.
