MDFR's Douglas Keller named Investigator of the Year

(MIAMI, September 4, 2015) – Miami-Dade Fire Rescue’s (MDFR) Lt. Douglas Keller was named the 2015 Investigator of the Year by The Fire Investigators of Florida (FIF), the Florida chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI).  Lt. Keller was presented with the award in September at the FIF Annual Training Conference in Daytona Beach, Florida.

In 2012 he was awarded Investigator of the Year by The Florida Fire Marshals and Inspectors Association. During his tenure as an investigator, Lt. Keller has dedicated himself to the MDFR Fire Prevention Bureau through his commitment to continued education and accuracy of each origin and cause investigation he performs. He was also recently designated to the position as MDFR’s first Fire Investigations Training and Compliance Officer overseeing the training of the department’s other fire investigators, front line officers, and firefighters.

The FIF was created to help serve those in the public and private sectors given the responsibility to conduct origin & cause investigations. Its main goal is to support and provide training to fire investigators and other related professionals in both public and private sectors to further the prevention, investigation and prosecution of arson and related crimes.
