The Mayor’s Business Engagement Council

Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava’s Business Engagement Council is a collaboration between county government, private businesses, and nonprofit partners to create a more thriving, inclusive and resilient community. The Mayor’s Business Engagement Council will bring these sectors closer together to tackle the biggest challenges facing our community.

Mission

Connect county government, business, and nonprofit to create unique community partnerships to build awareness and alignment for engagement and impact. Create a foundation of “best practices sharing” where community interaction and specific results will help build a more close-knit and vibrant Miami-Dade County for all residents.

Vision
The Mayor’s Business Engagement Council (MBEC) will:

Support the Mayor’s administration and County departments in achieving strategic community objectives.
Drive a best practices collaboration between government, private businesses, and nonprofit sectors to take on pressing problems and expand our shared impact.
Empower business partners to create opportunities to help more Miami-Dade residents and families succeed and thrive.
Create a collective impact in serving the needs of all members of our community.

- Assist Mayor Daniella Levine Cava in creating a powerful “Model for Change” by building partnerships with Miami-Dade County and community organizations.
- Provide networking and learning opportunities from and for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) professionals to strengthen and build a cohesive vision and culture of community engagement.
- Create opportunities for the business community to learn about “community needs” from Miami-Dade County leadership and by hearing first-hand about the specific assistance nonprofits and local causes need.
- Develop a cohesive network of business relationships available to respond to natural and man-made disasters impacting our community.
- Support business employee volunteer programs to elevate community engagement and participation.
- Maximize community awareness and recognition of Business Engagement Council’s commitment to volunteerism.
- Provide easy access to new Miami-Dade businesses from tech and other industries to become part of the civic infrastructure.
- Provide “people power” from skills-based leadership and volunteer service to support Miami-Dade County community initiatives, including mentoring and internships as appropriate.
- Create opportunities for business engagement and participation in National Volunteer Week community activities.
1. All businesses within the Miami Dade metropolitan area that have a philanthropic and/or volunteer component or seek to establish one will be considered for membership. New entrepreneurial businesses interested in developing a civic footprint are welcome. Member review and selection will be by determined by the Mayor’s office.
2. Interested parties shall contact Patrick Morris, Director of Civic & Philanthropic Partnerships at Miami-Dade County Office of the Mayor at [email protected].
3. The Mayor’s Office will conduct an initial conversation with all interested parties ensuring the Mayor’s Business Engagement Council is a “good fit” for all parties.
4. Meetings will be held six times a year with sub-committee meetings as needed and determined by the Mayor’s Business Engagement Council.
5. Occasional meetings will be held with the Mayor’s Business Engagement Council and leadership of Miami-Dade County Departments and the nonprofit sector to connect, share, and learn about opportunities for collaboration.
