Public Safety

Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez is determined to have world-class police and corrections departments for Miami-Dade County. It is important that we ensure the County's public safety departments are equipped with the necessary tools to serve our community and keep our residents safe.

Body Worn Cameras

The Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) has equipped more than 1,100 officers with body cameras. MDPD is the largest police department in the nation to deploy body-worn cameras -- cameras that will allow our police department to better protect and serve our community.

Youth and Community Safety Initiative

Miami-Dade County continues to address youth violence through initiatives like the ''youth and community safety initiative.'' Our officers will mentor at-risk youth, steer them away from crime, and bring needed assistance to their families as well.

Community on Patrol Application

The Community on Patrol Application (COPA) provides residents with the ability to anonymously report tips to the Miami-Dade Police Department Command Center, upload videos, photos and notes, as well as identify and provide the residential location of sexual offenders, file police reports and commend officers -- all from your smart phone.
