Liberty City Rising

In February 2015, Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez announced a multimillion-dollar plan to revitalize Liberty Square and Liberty City. Known as Liberty City Rising, this development seeks to address the issues of crime and poverty in the area by raising the standard of living for residents and creating opportunities to earn a decent living.

The Underline

Rendering of The UnderlineThe Underline will transform the land below Miami-Dade County's Metrorail into a 10-mile linear park and urban trail to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety, create hundreds of acres of green space and will generate significant economic impact.


BIKE305 Connecting Communities logoBike305 is a collaborative initiative of Miami-Dade mayors forged by Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez that encourages residents to ride and walk the more than 27-mile stretch of paved trails along the eastern edge of the County. Every year, spring marks the start of the BIKE305 season, when a slew of events take place to celebrate cycling and to encourage all residents to ride bikes for physical fitness and fun.

Youth Sports Championship

The Mayor's Youth Sports Championship Series aims to build and support a strong foundation of organized sports throughout Miami-Dade County through a series of sport championships coordinated by the Miami-Dade Parks and Recreation Department and the local governing body of the individual youth sport.
