Mosquito Awareness Week - spread awareness and prevent the spread of disease
It seems that every worthy cause has a designated day, week or month - International Day of Yoga, Lightning Safety Awareness Week and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Here's one you may not have heard of - Florida Mosquito Control Awareness Week. Each year, mosquito control divisions and districts throughout the State of Florida use this week in April to educate the public about the important work they do, the dangers of mosquito-borne illnesses and what to do to prevent the spread of disease.
Help spread awareness to prevent the spread of disease during Mosquito Awareness week April 18 - 24.
The timing of the week could not be better, as Miami-Dade is about to enter its rainy season, which along with increasing temperatures, makes for the peak activity time for mosquitoes. Residents are highly encouraged to engage and participate in online activities by following the division on social media @305Mosquito on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Miami-Dade County's schedule of themes and events for the week:
There is no need for signups. It is all on social media. All you have to do is tune in.
