TITLE RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE COUNTY MAYOR OR COUNTY MAYOR�S DESIGNEE TO PREPARE A REPORT ON THE IMPACT OF THE CORONAVIRUS DISEASE 2019 (COVID-19) ON THE COUNTY�S TRANSIT EMPLOYEES AND THE MEASURES IMPLEMENTED, OR BEING CONSIDERED FOR IMPLEMENTATION, BY THE ADMINISTRATION TO CURB ANY FURTHER IMPACT OF COVID-19 ON TRANSIT EMPLOYEES BODY WHEREAS, on March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization declared the coronavirus disease 2019 (�COVID-19�) a pandemic; and WHEREAS, on March 13, 2020, the President of the United States declared a national emergency concerning the COVID-19 pandemic; and WHEREAS, due to the pandemic, state and local officials across the country, including the Florida Governor and Miami-Dade County Mayor, issued declarations of emergency, stay at home orders, and other orders aimed at stymying the spread of COVID-19; and WHEREAS, many employees of the County�s transit system have remained on the front lines of this pandemic to provide essential transit services throughout the County, often times at personal risk or sacrifice; and WHEREAS, despite the risks, the County�s transit employees have continued to exhibit admirable dedication; and WHEREAS, the continued safety of the County�s transit employees has been and remains a top priority of this Board; and WHEREAS, to ensure the continued safety and protection of the County�s transit employees, this Board wishes to direct the County Mayor or County Mayor�s designee to provide a written report on the impact COVID-19 has had on the County�s transit employees and the measures implemented, or being considered for implementation, by the administration to curb any further impact of COVID-19 on transit employees, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board: Section 1. Directs the County Mayor or County Mayor�s designee to prepare a report on the impact of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on the County�s transit employees and the measures implemented, or being considered for implementation, by the administration to curb any further impact of COVID-19 on transit employees. This report, at a minimum, shall include the measures taken to protect transit employees from the risk of COVID-19 and an analysis of employee absences attributable to COVID-19. Section 2. Directs the County Mayor or County Mayor�s designee to provide the written report required by section 1, above, within 30 days of the effective date of this resolution, and to place the completed report on an agenda of this Board pursuant to Ordinance No. 14-65. It is the intent of the Commission that the completed written report be assigned for Committee review. |
