2015 Notice of Proposed Property Taxes (Trim) is Being Mailed

Property Appraiser Pedro J. Garcia is mailing the Notice of Proposed Property Taxes (TRIM) to all property owners.  Included is a guide to help them better understand their proposed taxes.  The mailing also contains a letter from Mr. Garcia informing property owners, who believe their property may be over assessed, to complete an Informal Assessment Review Form.  This process will help us address any value concerns they may have much quicker than appealing through the Value Adjustment Board (VAB).  Also, please note that the TRIM Notice is available anytime, online at www.miamidade.gov/pa.

The Notice has important information about each individual property, including:

In a statement Property Appraiser Garcia stated, “I strongly encourage property owners to review their TRIM Notice closely so they may be better informed about their property taxes.”

Additionally, the letter lists 4 upcoming outreach events, which allows property owners the opportunity to meet personally with the Property Appraiser and his staff.  Property owners should bring any documents that may support an assessment reduction, such as appraisals, photographs and insurance claim paperwork.

Property owners can also visit our office in Downtown Miami (111 NW 1st Street, 8th Floor) or the South Dade Government Center (10710 SW 211th Street, 2nd Floor), Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.  The deadline for filing an appeal with the Value Adjustment Board this year is Friday, September 18th, 2015.

Tax bills will be mailed by the Tax Collector by the beginning of November.
