Miami-Dade County Property Owners to Receive Important Tax Saving Exemption Benefit Information

Miami-Dade County, FL – Property Appraiser Pedro J. Garcia will be mailing out on Friday, December 28, important tax saving exemption benefit information to both new and current property owners in Miami-Dade County. Approximately 15,000 Homestead Exemption applications and 408,000 Homestead Exemptions renewal forms will be mailed out to property owners. Online filing is also available on our website at www.miamidade.gov/pa.

Property owners are encouraged to read their renewal receipts and fraud flyer carefully to ensure they still qualify for their exemption(s). If the property owners remain eligible in 2019, no further action is needed; they should keep the document for their records. However, if they no longer qualify for their exemption(s), they should sign the cancellation portion of the receipt and return it to the Office of the Property Appraiser at 111 NW 1st Street, Suite 710, Miami, FL 33128 by Friday, March 1, 2019. Florida law requires property owners to notify the Property Appraiser when they no longer qualify for an exemption.

Property owners who have questions or concerns about their exemption(s) status can visit our website at www.miamidade.gov/pa or in person at our offices in Downtown Miami (111 NW 1st Street, Suite 710) and South Dade Government Center (10710 SW 211th Street, 2nd Floor), Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Additionally, to better assist homeowners throughout Miami-Dade County, our Office will host multiple weekend and evening outreach events around the county, where they will be able to file or cancel their exemption benefits. If property owners have any questions, they are encouraged to call us at 305-375-4712.
