MEDIA ALERT – Building Information Update from Miami-Dade County Property Appraiser Pedro J. Garcia

Miami-Dade County, FL – Miami-Dade County Property Appraiser Pedro J. Garcia is saddened by the events surrounding the collapse of the Champlain Towers South in Surfside, Florida. Our hearts and prayers are with the families and those affected by the tragedy, as well as the brave men and women risking their lives for the ongoing search efforts.

To better meet the increased demand for public information, we would like to share the Miami-Dade County Property Appraiser’s building information file containing buildings that may qualify for the 40/50-year recertification under the Miami-Dade County building code.  The file contains the following information:  Owner, Mailing Address, Year Built, Legal Description, etc.

Single family homes, duplexes and non-residential farm buildings are exempt from recertification requirements. All other buildings with an occupant load of ten or less and two thousand square feet or less are also exempt from recertification requirements. Each municipality is responsible for the recertification process within their respective jurisdiction. Any questions regarding the requirements and specifications for building recertifications should be directed to the specific city. For your convenience, we have compiled a list of the municipalities and their contact information.

The PA Building Information File and the list of municipalities with contact information can be found here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/qhh0w2odjgdjugm/AAB3UBMUhAttSN0YBC_7EvSAa?dl=0.
