The Miami-Dade County Office of the Property Appraiser is Currently Accepting 2024 Property Tax Saving Exemption Benefits Applications
Miami-Dade County, FL – The Miami-Dade County Office of the Property Appraiser is currently accepting 2024 property exemption benefits applications until March 1, 2024. Property Appraiser Pedro J. Garcia has mailed out these applications to residential property owners in Miami-Dade County. The documents mailed included courtesy Homestead Exemption applications for new homeowners, encouraging them to apply for their Homestead Exemption, as it may provide significant property tax savings. Mailing also included automatic renewal receipts for those property owners who currently have property tax benefits.
Property owners are strongly encouraged to review their property tax exemption benefits in the automatic renewal receipts mailed to ensure they are receiving all the benefits they may be eligible to receive. If a property owner no longer qualifies for their exemption(s), Florida law requires property owners to notify the Property Appraiser immediately.
If the property owner remains eligible in 2024, no further action is needed, but they are encouraged to keep the document for their records. “The Homestead Exemption is one of many property tax benefits available to our residents. I want to make sure property owners are able to avail themselves of these benefits, so I'm asking them to review the information we have provided, and they can call our office or visit us, if they have any questions,” adds Property Appraiser Garcia.
Property owners who have questions or concerns about their exemption(s) status can visit our website at www.miamidade.gov/pa or in person at our offices in Downtown Miami (111 NW 1st Street, Suite 710) and South Dade Government Center (10710 SW 211th Street, 2nd Floor), Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. To better assist homeowners throughout Miami-Dade County, our office will host multiple weekend and evening outreach events around the county where homeowners will be able to file or cancel their exemption benefits.
