Celebrate Halloween with Miami-Dade Parks Ecoadventures


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 
From a Full Moon Campfire to a Costume Canoe Adventure, Miami-Dade Parks EcoAdventures has an exciting line-up of Halloween activities for children and adults to enjoy.

  • COSTUME CANOE ADVENTURE
    Saturday, October 30, 2010; 5:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
    Ages 9 and above
    Fee: $40.00 per participant
    Calling all pirates, captains, bootleggers and shipmates! Join EcoAdventures for their first ever Halloween Costume Canoe Adventure. Well take you on a journey along the shores of a land that has witnessed the comings and goings of man for over 2000 years, fromthe Tequesta that set-up their fishing villages in the summer to the pirates that shipwrecked off shore. Enjoy a leisurely paddle along the mangrove coastline and delight in the costumed buccaneers that come with it. (Oh! And the costume contest winner goes free!)

  • ARCH CREEK PARK: HALLOWEEN GHOST TOUR
    Saturday, October 30, 2010; 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
    All ages
    Fee: $6.00 per participant
    Experience a ghostly encounter this Halloween at Arch Creek Park, one of Miami's best-kept secrets! This naturalist guided tour takes you on a journey through the past, from historical accounts dating back to the 1800's to modern-day sightings.

  • FULL MOON CAMPFIRE AT BILL SADOWSKI PARK
    Saturday, October 23, 2010; 6:30 p.m. -8:00 p.m.
    All ages
    Fee: $6 per person
    Join our naturalists as we take a walk on the nature trails after dark in search of nocturnal creatures including the Eastern Screech Owl. Then relax by the campfire and share a few ghost stories. Appropriate for all ages. Reservations recommended.

  • FAMILY CAMPFIRE AT A.D. BARNES PARK: October 23 & 30, 2010
    7:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
    All ages
    Fee: $6.00 per participant/ families of 4, $20.00
    Enjoy a family outing at the Sense of Wonder Nature Center at A.D. Barnes Park. The topic for October 23 is "All about Owls" and the topic for October 30 is "Reptiles and Amphibians." Begin the evening with a short presentation on the topic at hand then hike through the nature trail at A.D. Barnes Park. After a short hike, return to the fire circle to roast marshmallows and any other camp fare that you would like to roast. Bring your own marshmallows and any other food item that one would like to roast over the campfire.
