Occupied Residential Burglary


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

Detectives from the Miami-Dade Police Department’s Hammocks District are investigating an occupied residential burglary that occurred at 15240 SW 143 Street shortly after 4:00 p.m. Monday afternoon. 

A 9-1-1 call was received by a female caller reporting her home was being broken into.  The caller advised dispatch that she and her sister were hiding in the bathroom.

Investigators say two males smashed the rear sliding glass door of the residence.  Once inside the home, the thieves ransacked and stole property from the residence.  As responding officers arrived they observed the males attempting to flee on foot with the stolen property.  Officers took Alejandro Armas into custody.  The second male, dressed in a black hoodie and black shorts, jumped the rear gate of the residence.  Officers saturated the area and quickly established a perimeter for the second subject.  K-9 officers later located the subject identified 19 year old Jonathan Wilbert Castillo, 19 years old.

A third female subject driver remains at large.
