The Miami-Dade Police Department’s (MDPD) Homicide Bureau, with the assistance of the United States Marshals Service, has made an arrest in the 2013 murder of Neville Smith.
According to investigators, Everton Blake returned home from work and found Mr. Smith, in a pool of blood on the bathroom floor, with visible trauma to his head and face. Mr. Blake ran outside of the residence and immediately called 911.
Mr. Blake advised detectives that he left for work at 9:45 a.m., and the only two people inside of the residence were the victim, Mr. Smith, and Danei Washington Gordon.
On July 1, 2013, an arrest warrant for Second Degree Murder was issued for Mr. Gordon.
In April 2014, the assistance of the U.S. Marshals was requested. On Wednesday, August 19, 2015, the U.S. Marshals located Mr. Gordon in Hartford, Connecticut. He was taken into custody pursuant to the arrest warrant, and is being held at the Hartford Correctional Center awaiting extradition to Miami.
