According to investigators, the defendant resided with his mother, the victim, at the listed location. At approximately 2:00 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2015, the defendant entered his mother’s bedroom and found her lying on her bed. He then began to stab her multiple times in the chest with an unknown sharp instrument. After stabbing his mother, the defendant fled the scene.

Units were dispatched to the incident location on the report of a female, bloody in appearance, at the front door of the residence. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim deceased on the front porch. Responding units were able to determine the victim’s vehicle was missing and issued a B.O.L.O. for the vehicle. Midwest District uniform patrol units observed the vehicle a short time after on SW 24 Street and 79 Avenue. A traffic stop was initiated, but the defendant refused to stop. He continued to the area of SW 27 Avenue and 25 Terrace, where he exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. He was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the MDPD Homicide Bureau.

Post-Miranda, the defendant admitted to stabbing his mother because he was angry with her continually telling him what to do and that he needed to get a job. The defendant was charged accordingly and transported to the jail.
